David Johnson

David F. Johnson
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer

A native of western Illinois, David Johnson holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Western Illinois University plus a Specialist of Education Administration Degree from Eastern Illinois University.  He has also studied advanced computer science at NCR Corporation.  He is a former school administrator, a farmer, a crop hail adjuster, and claims supervisor.

David has always been active in the community and has served as Rotary Club president, church board chairman, PTA president and has held elective office as Longcreek Township Supervisor.  His numerous achievements have been recognized by the International Who's Who in Executives and Professionals, Outstanding Young Men in America, Men of Achievement, Directory of International Biography, and Community Leaders of America.  He has received the Community Service Award and the Illinois Jaycees Spoke Award and has been named Outstanding College Club President.

David served in the United States Navy Reserve Air Squadron AW 72 from 1955 to 1963. David has attended the following education workshops:  Soybean-Corn, Crop Production, Pest Scouting/University of Illinois;  Small Grain, Sunflower Workshop/Fargo University (ND);  Soybean School/Iowa State University;  Corn School/University of Nebraska;  Corn School/ Western Illinois University;  Soybean School/University of Missouri;  Soybean-Sunflower/University of Minnesota;   Soybean-Tomato/Purdue University; Soybean Workshop/University of Wisconsin.

David has been associated with the crop/hail industry since 1962. David is on the executive board and treasurer of the Crop Insurance Research Bureau. David's hobbies are the conservation of natural resources, wildlife preservation, birding, woodworking, and wine. Wine being the favorite. À Votre Santé.

 

Laverne Malone

Laverne hails from Maroa, Illinois, and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in botany, agronomy, and education from Illinois State University.  He has also earned additional credits toward a Master of Science degree.  Prior to joining ASI, Mr. Malone was employed as a teacher in Blue Mound, Illinois, as an agronomist for W.R. Grace company, and as the head of a soil testing laboratory.  He also worked in crop/hail adjusting and marketing.  Laverne has farmed more than one thousand acres and has been designated a "Master Farmer".

Laverne also spends time in community service including serving on the board of the Maroa Forsyth Community Bank and previous service on the Macon County Building Commission. He is past president of the Maroa School Board.

Laverne's educational workshops include:  Soybean-Corn Crop Protection/University of Illinois;  Soybean School/Iowa State University;  Corn School/University of Nebraska; Small Grain/Fargo University(ND);  Corn School/Western Illinois University;   Soybean-Tomato/Purdue University.

 

Forrest Armstrong

Forrest Armstrong
Senior Vice President

Forrest was born and raised in Chestnut, Illinois. After graduating from Mt. Pulaski High School in 1952, he served in the United States Air Force for four and one-half years during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and taught in elementary and junior high school from 1960 until retirement in 1988.

"Frosty" has worked in claims adjusting since 1977 and has been the supervisor of claims from 1981 to 2000. He has attended corn and soybean schools in Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska, and has been a plot leader and instructor at the Illinois school.

Frosty was also president of his church's board and the Methodist Men's Association, as well as the Blue Mound-Boody Teacher's Association. He served on the board of the Illinois Elementary School Association, the Blue Mound Village Planning and Zoning Board, Secretary of the Macon County Athletic Association, the National Crop Insurance Service Regional/State Committee Chairman of the Illinois/Wisconsin Loss Committee, Crop Insurance Research Bureau Education and Research Committee. Frosty earned numerous scholastic and athletic awards during his college days.
